InfrastructureNewsSocial issuesSport

The City of Liège, led by mayor Willy Demeyer, in partnership with Pro Vélo (the service provider), is launching from this Monday 23 November 2020 from 9 a.m., the possibility for residents to rent secure parking in a bicycle box for only 75 € per year with a deposit of 25 € for the access card.

City projects, including the most recent, Liège 2025, have highlighted the need for citizens to have secure and covered parking spaces for bicycles in the city center and in neighborhoods.

What is a bicycle box?

A bicycle box is a closed space fixed to the ground in the public space with a secure lock allowing the parking for 4 to 5 bicycles. These are secured by a personal padlock on the assigned personal bicycle rack. The lock can be opened using a magnetic card or a smartphone.

Where will they be located?

25 locations have already been selected, spread over the various districts of the city.

The bicycle boxes are set up in two successive bursts; the first one, comprising 13 boxes, has just been launched. 12 other boxes are planned for the end of 2020.
