Charleroi approves new economic and social projects
Charleroi has approved economic and social projects with the aim of providing more economic opportunities and improving quality of life in the city.
City authorities headed by Mayor of Charleroi Paul Magnette pointed out that one of the projects is the planned Aerospacelab factory, the largest satellite factory in Europe.
The production complex will contribute to Charleroi’s economic recovery as it is to make more than 500 satellites per year and create hundreds of jobs.
Another newly approved project is the renovation of the Marchienne-au-Pont swimming pool.
Councillor for sports Karim Chaïbaï pointed out that the approval “is another step in the renewal of our communal swimming pools,” noting that work on the Montignies-sur-Sambre swimming pool will also start this year.
The Marchienne-au-Pont swimming pool will be expanded and a new, smaller pool will be added. In addition, an elevator will be installed to accommodate people with reduced mobility.
The roof of the building will be replaced, additional changing rooms will be built and new flooring will be installed.
City authorities noted that Charleroi also approved the expansion and renovation of metro lines, stressing that the projects will improve mobility and make additional parts of the city more easily accessible as well as improve quality of service.
