Bucharest to implement new air quality policy
Mayor of Bucharest Nicusor Dan recently announced that a consortium of four companies won the public tender to develop an Integrated Air Quality Plan in the city.
Mayor Dan stated on social media: “Following a public tender, last week I awarded the contract for the implementation of the Integrated Air Quality Plan in Bucharest, to a consortium of four companies. Among them is Cambridge Environmental Research Consultants, the company which has conducted air quality assessment and air quality improvement projects for, among others, London, but also for the capital of Ireland, Dublin, as well as throughout the Republic of Ireland.
The project signed with the City Hall lasts 12 months and involves conducting the study on air quality in Bucharest (the main pollutants) and the Integrated Plan on Air Quality (plan of measures)”.
The first stage of the project is to implement a research, which will in detail explore the air quality and its biggest pollutants. This process will take about a 1/4 of the whole project duration. After that, the main focus will be to establish an Integrated Air Quality plan. This will include a set of measures that will be implemented throughout this year.
This is an important project for the city of Bucharest, since it will be the first such project implemented. If successful, it will introduce a new and improved quality of life to the city and its residents. (Photo credit: Mihai Surdu/Pixabay)
