Bristol to welcome The Temple Quarter project
The city of Bristol, led by mayor Marvin Rees, will undergo a major project called The Temple Quarter project. This project includes a huge regeneration of Temple Meads train station and nearby wasteland.
Bristol Temple Meads station is the oldest and largest railway station in Bristol. It is an important transport hub for public transport in the city. In addition to the train services, there are bus services to many parts of the city and surrounding districts, as well as a ferry to the city center.
The Government is now considering approving more than 100 million euro on this huge project which would transform the whole Temple Quarter by making it more attractive and lively.
If this budget is approved, this incredible reconstruction would be one of the biggest city-center regeneration projects in Europe.
This renovation would also be followed by a series of other big plans for the area close to the station. This includes renovation of student halls, offices, and a conference center at Temple Island where former mayor George Ferguson had earmarked an arena.
Temple Quarter will also be renovated. This would create around 10,000 new homes and 22,000 new jobs for the citizens, as well as the new University of Bristol campus and a transport hub.
West of England metro mayor, Dan Norris, says that he is also optimistic that the money will be secured soon and that the project will be approved. (photo credit: Bristol Temple Quarter official website)
