Around the Warhol – Liège Factory exhibition
Paliss’art and Spray Can Arts are joining forces to celebrate the unmissable event that constitutes the exhibition dedicated to Andy Warhol, which is being held at La Boverie from October 2, 2020, to February 28, 2021.
Like many other artistic disciplines, the world of Street Art also has its roots in the New York of the 60s and 70s and claims to be the heir of pop culture.
The non-profit organization Spray Can Arts, an association of artists active in the urban arts sector, with which the City of Liège has collaborated for many years within the framework of the Paliss’art operation, was therefore entrusted with the task. to reinterpret the work of Andy Warhol.
It is a monumental painted composition, portrait of the artist, revised and reproduced four times in the manner of the great iconic portraits of the pope of pop art, that the artists Soke and Michaël Nicolaï offer today in the common space, open to each and everybody.
This new project finds its realization, at the corner of the rue Basse-Wez and the Pont d’Amercoeur, replacing the fresco in homage to Enki Bilal which had been produced within the framework of the exhibition “Comic strip revolution” organized in 2017. It is therefore at an important crossroads in Liège that this work is unfolded in the open air, not far from the Boverie Museum.
