Biography
Zdeněk Hřib is a Czech politician and healthcare manager who has been serving as mayor of Prague since November 2018. Mayor Hřib also holds managerial positions in the healthcare industry, where he focuses on the digitization of healthcare services.
Mayor of Prague was born on May 21, 1981 in Slavičín, near the city of Zlín in the south-east of the Czech Republic. He studied medicine at Charles University in Prague and also participated in a student exchange program in Taiwan.
Since 2012, he has been the director and founder of a non-profit organization that provides quality control, efficiency assessment, and consulting for healthcare providers as well as consumer protection for healthcare customers.
In December 2019, mayors of Prague, Bratislava, Warsaw, and Budapest signed the Pact of Free Cities, where they agreed to protect common values of freedom, human dignity, democracy, equality, rule of law, social justice, tolerance and cultural diversity. Furthermore, through the Pact, the aforementioned mayors share information about best practices in urban development, mitigating the housing crisis, and global warming.
One of Hřib's biggest goals is to make the city of Prague greener and more environmentally friendly. His green plans include planting of 1 million trees in eight years. He has also set the goal of reducing CO2 emissions in the city of Prague by at least 45% by 2030, compared to 2010. Under Hřib's mayorship, Prague adopted the Climate Plan which is a set of specific measures to reach climate neutrality by 2050.
