Toulon has introduced the 60+ card for residents aged 60 and over to help them remain active and connected.

Headed by Mayor of Toulon Huberto Falco, city authorities pointed out that senior residents are increasingly active both physically and socially, adding that Toulon wants to provide services tailored to each age group.

Deputy Mayor Valérie Mondone pointed out that the move will help residents over 60 to access information on health, sport, leisure, culture and local economy, among other.

The 60+ card was launched in February and currently brings together approximately 30 local partners from the sectors of retail, culture, catering and more. City authorities noted that the card will help entrepreneurs to meet the varied needs of senior residents and tap the “silver economy.”

Mondone reiterated that residents over 60 years of age are more and more active and in charge of their lives, stressing the importance of meeting their needs as such residents account for approximately 28% of Toulon’s population.

City authorities pointed out that introduction of the 60+ card is part of broader efforts to promote social inclusion of senior residents that focus on support, culture, travel and other social activities.

The move will help to boost inclusion by promoting intergenerational exchanges through education and leisure activities.
