Padua to boost its e-mobility infrastructure

Mayor of Padua Sergio Giordani announced that new e-mobility hubs at tram terminals will soon be arriving in the Italian city.

E-mobility hub can be characterized as a single location that houses electric vehicle charging stations, an electric car club,  bicycles and e-bikes for rent. The goal is to provide a high-quality and wide range of shared electric mobility services to encourage citizens to avoid owning private cars.

Mayor Giordani stated on social media: ‘’Two innovative e-mobility hubs with 80 charging points for electric vehicles powered by 100% renewable energy also produced by photovoltaic shelters will cover 160 parking spaces at the two terminuses Guizza and Pontevigodarzere.’’

Mayor of Padua also explained that they will be built by the company Atlante, and thanks to the innovative Vehicle-To-Grid technology, Padua residents will also be able to recharge their electric cars at extremely competitive rates.

‘’For an increasingly intermodal and environmentally aware Padua, where more and more citizens will be able to leave their electric car at the tram terminus and reach the centre using public transport in a completely sustainable manner,’’ Mayor Giordani further stated.

The inauguration of new e-mobility hubs can be considered an important step for Padua on the road to becoming a greener and more sustainable city. Nine Italian cities, among which is also Padua, have recently been chosen to participate in the European Commission’s Cities Mission, which aims to create 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030.

The project’s goal is to turn the selected cities into sustainability forerunners and innovation hubs, with the goal of making all EU cities climate-neutral by 2050. (photo credit: pixaline/pixabay)
