The mayors of Seville and Malaga, Juan Espadas and Francisco de la Torre, announced today during their participation in the meeting Collaboration and synergies between the cities of Seville and Malaga – organized by APD and PWC – that both capitals, through Fibes and Fycma, will agree on a joint calendar of fairs and congresses to avoid duplication and promote the internationalization of their agenda.
Espadas and De la Torre have agreed that collaboration between institutions is necessary for the development of common proposals and strategies that allow the strengthening of the fair and congress activity for the benefit not only of both cities, but also of their respective provinces and of the autonomous community as a whole. For this, both mayors consider it appropriate to plan actions and carry out an analysis of the market jointly, from Fibes and Fycma, to position the sector as a driving and dynamizing tool of the Andalusian economy.
The sum of Fibes and Fycma aims to achieve a shared objective: to unite initiatives that, giving solidity and solvency to the fair and congress industry, promote the competitiveness of the region and generate employment. Espadas and De la Torre have specified that the work will begin by developing, by mutual agreement, a harmonized, coherent and diverse calendar that avoids the duplication of calls. For this, a strategy will be put in place that will consist of alternating fairs and events between Seville and Malaga. The joint recruitment of large events for which neither Seville nor Malaga have the capacity on their own will also be considered and that Andalusia can attract by relying on both cities.
This line of cooperation between Seville and Malaga is, explained Espadas and De la Torre, an incentive for the international projection of the Andalusian sector. The collaboration between the two main cities of the community, in addition, aims to contribute to the economic reactivation by attracting large itinerant calls, undertaking trade missions with strategic markets, and supporting the promotion and marketing at fairs outside of Spain, since both fairs and events hosted by exhibition and congress palaces are an engine of international business.
