Tallinn: a city full of innovations

New technologies and innovations which provide many new opportunities and increase the chances of building better businesses are dominating today’s world.

According to the results of the latest European Innovation Scoreboard which compares different innovation-related indicators both in the EU countries and in other countries in Europe and its neighboring regions, Estonia is one of the fastest-growing innovators in Europe. 

This Baltic country remains among strong innovators for the third year in a row and has made the biggest development leap in the past seven years with 35.4% points. This result shows that the country has made serious improvements with a strong increase of 12-13% points in the past several years.

Estonia is the country that is considered as one of the most advanced digital societies in the world with a population that is very economically active.

Some of the world-famous digital platforms were invented in Estonia, including the famous online video service Skype. An impressive 44% of Skype employees are now based in the Estonian capital, Tallinn, the city which is considered as the Silicon Valley of Europe.

The city of Tallinn, led by mayor Mihhail Kõlvart, is a city full of new opportunities and the city with Europe’s highest number of startups per head of population. Many people are drawn to the city because of the Government’s innovative policies and education initiatives which make the city a pretty attractive destination. 

Since the early 2000s, Estonia has made a name for itself in the tech industry with a varied and rich range of startups from big companies such as aforementioned Skype to newer innovations like Transferwise, Bolt and Pipedrive, which is the first CRM platform developed from the salesperson’s point of view. 

It is a country with admirable innovations and the place where the citizens, thanks to their digital ID cards, can do almost almost everything online: from paying their taxes, signing leases, online voting or checking their health certificates.

The city of Tallinn is one of the first cities in the world in which 5G internet solutions began operating and were demonstrated in real life, which was the big step towards the new potential of supporting millions of devices at ultrafast speeds and transforming the lives of people around the world.

Estonia has an excellent infrastructure that makes it the ideal startup hub, especially the capital city of Tallinn.

According to Atomico’s State of European Tech, more and more money is flowing every year in European tech companies which have an increasing number of 19%.
