Tallinn: “Do squats to make you smart!”
Launched by mayor of Tallinn Mihhail Kõlvart, the annual Sports Morning took place last Friday for the seventh time in a row.
For this occasion, mayor Kõlvart stated: “With the Sports Morning, we want to remind people that moderate physical activity is important all year round, and that there are plenty of opportunities for healthy exercise even in the dark and cold season. Although the pandemic continues to restrict people from playing sports together in some of the city’s sports centres like they used to, it will certainly not prevent them from exercising for their health”.
This year, the focus of the Sports Morning was on the health trails in Tallinn, where active hikes were led by well-known athletes and Olympic medallists.
Schools and kindergartens took part in the challenge “Do squats to make you smart!” and the institution who counted most squats, received a prize. The highest result was made by the 21 Tallinn School, which completed a total of 50,874 squats in one minute. In the kindergarten categort, Tallinn Kindergarten Kirsike became the champion, where the toddlers did 7783 squats.
