Sofia presented a Program “Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises” for the period 2021 – 2027
The team of the Regional Information Center Sofia-city and Sofia district (DIC – Sofia) held an online information meeting to present a project of the Program “Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises” for the period 2021 – 2027.
The investments under the Program are directly aimed at achieving intelligent and sustainable growth of the Bulgarian economy, as well as the implementation of industrial and digital transformation.
The program Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises 2021-2027 contributes to the achievement of two Policy Objectives set at European level: Policy Objective 1 “A smarter Europe by promoting an innovative and smarter economic transition” and Policy Objective 2 “A greener, lower-carbon Europe by promoting clean and equitable energy transition, green and blue investments, circular economy, adaptation to climate change and prevention and risk management”.
The program has a total value of 1,699,120,126 euros, and this resource is indicative until its approval by the European Commission. It is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and includes activities under two main priorities for innovation and growth and the circular economy, as well as technical assistance measures.
The planned support under the Program is focused on two main documents: the National Strategy for Small and Medium Enterprises for the period 2021 – 2027 and the Strategy for Smart Specialization in the period 2021 – 2027.
The National Strategy for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises sets the vision for the state policy in support of small and medium-sized enterprises and reflects the EU policy towards them. The strategy sets the strategic framework through which to provide targeted support for SMEs in Bulgaria. The developed priorities, measures and actions will be implemented both at national level, taking into account all applicable economic activities, and at regional level, based on sectoral specialization through enhanced support for SMEs in specific sectors in different areas of the country.
Strategy for Smart Specialization 2021 – 2027 builds on the experience gained from the implementation for the period 2014 – 2020, but will be programmed and implemented in significantly different global, European and national contexts. The decision of European countries to support the EU Green Deal requires a complete transformation of industrial ecosystems in two directions – environmental friendliness and digitalization. The thematic priority areas for smart specialization in the period 2021 – 2027, set in the strategy are the following: Informatics and ICT; Mechatronics (separate area); Healthy living and biotechnology industries; New technologies in creative and recreational industries; Clean technologies, circular and low carbon economy.
All 28 administrative districts in the country have identified two priority thematic areas, and the third priority thematic area for all will be “Clean Technologies, Circular and Low Carbon Economy”.
