In addition to rich cultural offerings, numerous European cities draw visitors from around the world who are looking to enjoy quality nightlife.

In order to ensure that tourists and locals don’t cause nuisance to residents, the Estonian capital Tallinn has launched a campaign promoting a more responsible nightlife, online portal of Estonian Public Broadcasting ERR reported.

The campaign, which was jointly launched by the City of Tallinn, the Police and Border Guard Board, serves to remind people that streets in the capital of Estonia that are home to bars and entertainment establishments may also include people’s private homes.

Tallinn city government nightlife adviser Natalie Mets said according to a press release: ‘’Nights can be a good time for both people who want to sleep at home and those who have gone out for entertainment. Everyone can contribute to a safe and friendly society.”

“At the same time, we also want to encourage people to be aware of what is going on around them and to react and help if needed,” she also stated.

The Estonian capital has emerged as one of the most popular getaway destinations for travelers looking for a city break in Europe. Tallinn’s Old Town is among the most visited areas of the city, with some of the main attractions located there.

Lennart Kams, head of the patrol service at the Lääne-Harju Police Station, stated: “Good and safe nightlife cannot be guaranteed by the police alone. Rather, everyone has to bear in mind that they are not alone in the city.’’

‘’By keeping one’s own behavior in check and taking notice of others in need of help, we can all help create a safe environment for everyone. It’s possible to be an excellent citizen by being considerate, noticing and helping others.” (photo credit: Jonas Leupe/Unsplash)
