Seville receives recognition for city’s social investments excellence
The Association of Social Services Directors and Managers (ADGSS) has recognised Seville for excellence in social investments.
City authorities headed by Mayor of Seville Antonio Muñoz pointed out that the city received the recognition for the fourth consecutive year and added that Seville boasts one of the highest levels of social investments in Spain.
Deputy Mayor Juan Manuel Flores noted that Seville has been increasing the budget for social investments in recent years, focusing on the most vulnerable in the society.
The city spent nearly EUR 86 million on social programmes in 2021 according to ADGSS’ analysis of local government units in Spain with more than 20,000 residents. The association pointed out that its analysis is based on Finance Ministry’s records for 2021.
Seville’s social investments exceeded EUR 85.9 million last year, with average social investment per resident standing at 125.57 in contrast with the national average of 88.85.
“Again, we are recognized at the national level for the effort made by the Seville City Council in terms of social spending as a fundamental part of the municipal budget,” Flores stressed.
He reiterated that Seville is determined to continue increasing social investments each year and prioritise social items aimed at helping the most vulnerable households.
Flores concluded that Seville’s social investments exceeded EUR 100 million for the first time this year.
