Las Palmas to build new square, green areas
Las Palmas is planning to build a new square and green areas for leisure and recreation as part of an urban development project.
City authorities headed by Mayor of Las Palmas Augusto Hidalgo pointed out that the project will focus on pedestrian mobility and will put the area currently used for parking purposes to good use.
The project worth nearly EUR one million will improve the environment of San Cristóbal and provide the fishing district with a new area for recreation and enjoyment.
Besides a new park, city authorities noted that the project includes the creation of children’s play areas and new regulation of traffic with a focus on pedestrians.
New trees and other vegetation will be planted in the area as part of the project, and a new irrigation system will be installed to help newly planted vegetation to take root.
The project is to be implemented in five months, with city authorities pointing out that it is part of broader efforts to transform and improve San Cristóbal through investments worth approximately EUR 10 million.
Some of the projects are financed through EU funds and will be implemented in the coming months, including investments in San Cristóbal promenade and La Puntilla Beach, among other.
