Las Palmas has presented 22 projects that will be financed through EU’s Next Generation funds.
Headed by Mayor of Las Palmas Augusto Hidalgo, the city council pointed out that the projects are worth EUR 26 million.
City councillor for economy and finance Encarna Galván noted that 17 of the 22 projects are focused on urban planning, construction and environmental sustainability and two focus on mobility and technological innovation each.
Galván stressed that the city council is dedicated to implementation of innovative projects and initiatives to improve Las Palmas and added that the council is doing its job when it comes to absorption of EU funds.
City administration is in the process of approving additional projects for EU financing, including planned renovation of buildings worth some EUR 3 million, industrial projects worth 1.7 million and more.
The city is promoting three innovation projects worth EUR 1.9 million, noting that the projects cover a broad range of issues including tourism and cybersecurity, among other.
Galván reminded that projects worth approximately EUR 58 million competed for EU financing in July, stressing that the figure reached 84.2 million in roughly four months, which shows the city’s dedication to making full use of the funds at its disposal.
