Las Palmas consulting its residents on urban planning and coming investments
Las Palmas invited residents of San Cristóbal neighbourhood to discuss urban plans and coming investments worth EUR 10 million.
Under Mayor of Las Palmas Augusto Hidalgo, the city discussed a number of planned projects aimed at improving quality of life in the neighbourhood.
Councillor for housing and urban planning Javier Doreste and councillor for districts Vegueta, Cono Sur and Tafira Prisco Navarro held the meeting with residents in December and pointed out that some planned projects are eligible for EU funding.
They noted that planned projects include renovation of the Chacalote building worth approximately EUR 3 million, for which the EU already approved financing.
Plans also include construction of a new promenade worth EUR 1.4 million as well as repairs of the existing promenade in San Cristóbal for 162,000.
The area around La Puntilla Beach will be rehabilitated to the tune of approximately EUR 600,000 and Las Palmas will build the Gran Canaria Nautical Sports Centre in the neighbourhood for nearly 900,000.
Navarro pointed out that the meeting helped city authorities to present planned projects to neighbourhood representatives, stressing that they discussed projects already underway as well as those in different stages of planning.
Doreste noted that the projects will help to develop San Cristóbal neighbourhood and concluded that residents’ suggestions will be included in development plans.
