Free waste disposal in Tallinn
The city of Tallinn, led by mayor Mihhail Kõlvart, started a new project to further promote sustainability, green transition and the overall European Green Deal.
With this new measure, the citizens of Tallinn can dispose the bulky waste, including furniture, bicycles, buggies, and strollers, free of charge throughout the whole week, starting from March 14, all until March 20, 2022. The waste will be collected on different points across the city during this period. The four collecting points are in Pääsküla, Rahumäe, Pärnamäe and Paljassaare.
Many people have already showed interest in participating in this project. It will further encourage them to collect waste and to cherish the environment. The proper waste disposal is beneficial to the environment. Without it, the land and its underlying resources are prone to contamination. The project is raising awareness of this problem.
“This is one of many measures to help make Tallinn more environmentally friendly. The free waste collection aims to reduce the chance of unusable items ending up in the forest instead of at the waste station”, said Tallinn Deputy Mayor, Joosep Vimm. (photo credit: macrovector / Freepik)
