Dortmund residents and companies working together to make city better
Companies in Dortmund continue to support urban development projects aimed at making the city greener, safer and more sustainable.
City authorities headed by Lord Mayor of Dortmund Thomas Westphal reminded that companies have been supporting development projects for many years.
This year, roughly EUR 45,000 worth of projects will be launched in the Nordstadt neighbourhood, with city authorities pointing out that residents helped Dortmund to draw up and select the projects.
The majority of projects are aimed at meeting the needs of children and youth, including new traffic regulation to make streets safer and initiatives aimed at raising awareness about sustainability, inclusion and biodiversity, among other.
City authorities thanked this year’s sponsors and noted that children and youth will learn about a wide range of topics with the help of experts from the Dortmund Zoo, the fire brigade, the Natural History Museum and other institutions.
Dortmund pointed out that keeping the city clean has been at the top of most residents’ list of priorities for years, which is why several initiatives this year will be focused on cleanliness.
As part of these initiatives, residents will meet and discuss plans to make their neighbourhoods cleaner, and participate in implementation of solutions.
City authorities noted that several projects are aimed at seniors and will provide opportunities for socialisation, learning and leisure, among other.
