Copenhagen welcomes Pio Park, a new public space for recreation and leisure
Copenhagen has completed the Pio Park project, pointing out that the area will be open to the public.
Headed by Lord Mayor of Copenhagen Sophie Hæstorp Andersen, city authorities noted that 150 new trees have been planted in the area.
The new park between Ellebjerg School and Mozarts Plads boasts new cycling paths and is connected to existing infrastructure, which will improve mobility in the area.
Councillor for Technology and Environment Line Barfod reminded that residents wanted to develop the area as it was disused and an eyesore.
She pointed out that the new park offers residents another green area for recreation and leisure in the city and thanked everyone who helped to implement the project.
Councillor for children and youth Jakob Næsager expressed hope that developing the area and opening it to the public will improve quality of life in the neighbourhood.
City authorities noted that the new park boasts playground equipment, cycling and jogging tracks, areas for skateboarding and sports courts with artificial grass.
Copenhagen pointed out that the new cable car makes the park more accessible and will help to make it a new meeting place for residents, as will the new camping area.
City authorities concluded that planting of new trees and greenery improves quality of life in Copenhagen as it reduces air and noise pollution.
