Berlin unveils new VR attraction at Television Tower

Locals and tourists in the German capital Berlin are now able to enjoy a new Virtual Reality attraction located in the heart of the city. The new attraction called Berlin’s Odyssey is located at the Berlin Television Tower at Alexanderplatz and offers the visitors a unique VR journey through the history of Berlin.

Visitors are able to experience how Germany’s biggest city has developed from the middle ages to the time of the German empire and the Berlin Wall time to the present day throughout the 15-minute immersive virtual reality tour.

Mayor of Berlin Franziska Giffey stated on social media: ‘’Berlin has a new attraction: BERLIN’S ODYSSEY – a virtual journey through the history of our city, which can be experienced in the foyer of the Berlin TV Tower with special VR glasses and headphones. And there can hardly be a better place, because the television tower is located exactly where Berlin was founded in 1237.’’

One of Berlin’s newest attractions can be experienced in both English and German and is a combination of realistic 3D reconstructions and selected archive photos and videos.

‘’History can thus be experienced in 360 degree mode over almost 800 years. A great experience that can only be surpassed by the great view of Berlin in 2022 from the top of the TV tower. It was a pleasure for me to give the opening greetings together with TV-Turm Managing Director Christina Aue. Then we went back to the town hall with spontaneous chatter with a group of visitors from Baden-Württemberg and a city guide from Neukölln,’’ Mayor of Berlin Giffey further stated.

The TV Tower located on Alexanderplatz is one of Berlin’s most recognizable landmarks, as well as Germany’s highest structure, providing an excellent setting for experiencing this unique VR tour. (photo credit: mohamed hassan/Pixabay)
