Florence Mayor Nardella welcomes innovative electric car sharing venture
Mayor of Florence Dario Nardella welcomed the agreement with Italian Eni energy company and Chinese XEV electric car company founded in Turin in 2018, stressing that it will improve transport in the city.
He pointed out that new cooperation will offer electric car sharing services in the city, which will reduce smog and pollution as well as improve green mobility.
“Eni’s sustainable city cars are a further contribution to making mobility in the city more sustainable,” Nardella added and stressed that the move is in line with policies aimed at reducing smog and commitments to reach carbon neutrality by 2030.
XEV CEO Lou Tik pointed out that the company is “proud that its electric cars are becoming a part of the Enjoy [car sharing service] fleet in Florence, following the recent positive feedback received in Turin and Bologna.”
He added that car sharing provides a solution to the demand for greener urban mobility and concluded that the company is cooperating with Florence and Eni to improve mobility in the city.
Enjoy was founded in 2013 by Eni and started offering its services in Florence in 2014. It is present in Turin, Bologna, Milan and Rome, and plans to introduce XEV’s vehicles to its fleets in the second two cities in the coming months.
The company operates a fleet of roughly 2,500 vehicles and has more than 1,000 customers, boasting more than 29 million rentals since it was founded. It offered a scooter sharing service in the period between 2015 and 2017.
