Tallinn builds energy efficient kindergarten for 240 children
Tallinn has completed an energy efficient kindergarten in the Pirita district with room for 240 children.
City authorities headed by Mayor of Tallinn Mihhail Kõlvart pointed out that the kindergarten will offer a modern learning environment and meet the needs of families in the district.
Deputy Mayor Vadim Belobrovtsev pointed out that many young families live in Pirita, which is why the city decided to build a new kindergarten there.
He expressed hope that residents will be happy with the new kindergarten where children will have an opportunity to learn, discover and have fun.
Belobrovtsev reminded that Tallinn is modernising old kindergartens, noting that five modernisation projects are underway of which the first should be completed next month.
City authorities noted that the old kindergarten in Pirita was torn down and the new energy efficient building constructed in its place. The new building is larger and boasts a larger outdoor area with a modern playground.
Besides energy efficiency, the new kindergarten will cover some of its electricity needs with solar panels installed on the roof.
City authorities pointed out that the project is worth approximately EUR 7.29 million and noted that the Ministry of Finance contributed more than 900,000 as part of its programme aimed at supporting energy efficiency in local government units.
