Eindhoven ranked among most sustainable public procurers in the Netherlands
Eindhoven is one of the top ten sustainable public procurers in the Netherlands according to the latest analysis of the Public Procurement Institute.
Under Mayor of Eindhoven Jeroen Dijsselbloem, the city ranked as the seventh most sustainable Dutch public procurer.
This was the fourth consecutive year that the North Brabant province topped the ranking of sustainable public procurers in the Netherlands. Eindhoven ranked 23rd in 2020, 8th in 2021 and 7th this year.
Eindhoven started calling on contractors to use recycled asphalt in all projects approximately two years ago, noting that this helps to achieve sustainability objectives. In addition, contractors have a better chance of winning competitions if they use low-emission construction equipment.
Eindhoven pointed out that it just wrapped up the Dutch Design Week focused on sustainability and reduction of CO2 emissions and launched the National Climate Week as part of its efforts to be more sustainable.
The city has been focusing on making its real estate more sustainable for years, but stressed the importance of doing more to achieve environmental targets.
City authorities pointed out that Eindhoven implemented many measures over the last years to move towards a higher level of sustainability and stressed that the city is prepared to share its experience and knowledge with citizens, companies and NGOs.
Eindhoven pointed out that a lot can be done by joining forces and called on the residents to take part in the green push.
