New light in gaming industry: Mayor of Madrid José Louis Martinez-Almeida opened a new gaming fair
Since the introduction of advanced computing machines, gaming industry boomed. The gaming consoles became part of our daily lives and can be seen in nearly every household. Many countries specialised and became the leaders in this sphere of economy, one of them being Spain.
The biggest gaming fair in Spain, Amazon GAMERGY MAPFRE Edition ,was opened by mayor of Madrid José Louis Martinez-Almeida.
This is the first manifestation of this kind which is organized face-to-face since the pandemic of Covid-19 started. At the opening press conference, the representatives from Madrid City Council, IFEMA Madrid organisation and Amazon were present.
This is a great opportunity for all gaming fans to discover new initiatives and projects, as well as new products of their favourite developers.
Mayor of Madrid José Louis Martinez-Almeida stated: “Amazon GAMERGY MAPFRE edition presents one of the key event of making Madrid a great city. The e-sports industry is a sector that has grown continuously, fastly and solidly. We must also take into account the talent behind this sector; any transformation is based on talent, people and professionals who are the basis for development“.
This fair presented Spain as one of the top competitors in Europe regarding video game industry. Some say it is as relevant and equivalent as Germany’s events, who has been first in this sphere for years.
The current government project Videogame Cluster caught attention even more after the inauguration of Amazon GAMERGY MAPFRE edition opening. This project aims at further development of gaming industry and economy, but most importantly promotion of education and social integration of this industry.
Further projects are planned as well with the new LATAM GAMERGY TOUR edition announced by organisers. This tour will be held in Argentina, Chile and Mexico. It is an great opportunity for these countries to gather together and further supplement each other in this sphere of industry.
This is a great example for the gaming industry. It will surely serve as an inspiration for future similar events and inspire other cities in Spain and Europe to do the same.
