Dortmund: Culture for everyone
Culture for everyone – this is the motto of the Dortmund cultural operations plan for the upcoming year 2021. The city’s cultural institutions enable creative work and offer citizens of Dortmund a high-level program. For this purpose, the cultural enterprises from the city budget 2021 have a total of 57 million euros at their disposal for current purposes and 5.4 million euros for investments and repayments.
The Kulturbetriebe Dortmund offers a varied program for young and elder, for people of different origins and educational backgrounds, for music and literature lovers as well as for friends of the visual and performing arts. They are confronting a financial resources loss of 1.5 million euros for the financial year of 2021 which cannot be viewed separately due to Corona Virus, but is closely related to the previous year. Savings in the 2020 financial year should cover the additional expenditure for the new financial year.
Furthermore, Dortmund planned to grant the cultural institutions for investments and repayments with the amount of 5.4 million euros.
For the next calendar year, Kulturbetriebe Dortmund has 462 full-time accounted positions – 11 more than in the previous year. The increase results mainly in the organizational integration of the Institute for Vocal Music.
The Kulturbetriebe Dortmund is an in-house organization of the city of Dortmund. This includes the following business areas: cultural office, libraries, museums, music school, Keuninghaus, education center for adults, city archives and many more.
