Progressive urban habitats become even more crucial every single day. Cities are hubs for innovations and investments with growing opportunities, but at the same time they are also living laboratories forced to confront challenges of increasing complexity. The role of cities is central in global debates regarding economic future, social stability and climate change.

Through sharing of best practices, the platform highlights how cities, from major capitals to mid-sized municipalities are leading Europe’s green and digital transitions while fostering citizen trust and participation.

By enabling direct interactions with local government decision-makers, Mayors of Europe facilitates knowledge exchange, accelerates learning between peers, and promotes evidence-based policymaking.

In 2025, it launched AI & the City, a flagship initiative exploring how artificial intelligence can enhance urban governance, transparency, and efficiency.
