Mayor Bakoyannis: “We are ready to play a leading role in tourism”
Athens is doing a great job on attacting digital nomads to their city thanks to the “This is Athens” campaign. Now, they have also partnered up with other Greek parties such ad Development and Destination Management Agency (EATA), AEGEAN Airlines, Athens International Airport (AIA), the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), Marketing Greece, Lampsa SA, Lamda Development, and Ionian Hotel Enterprises SA under the name “This is Athens&Partners”. This public-private partnership announced their digital campaign named “Love Letters from Athens”.
Through six short promo videos which are postard-like, depict the most famous Athens monuments and landmarks. They called them “Love Letters” because the videos include catch phrases such as “Working out for the day we meet again”, “See you Soon”, and much more, with the aim to inspire visitors to come soon.
“In such a difficult period, Athens declares its presence in world tourism. With strong collaborations and preparations, Athens is ready to welcome visitors again when the conditions allow”, stated Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis for GTP.
Referring to the campaign, mayor Bakoyannis said: “Athens was sending the message that we are adapting our strategic planning to the new conditions and we are ready to play a leading role in tourism as it is being shaped”.
This is Athens, the city’s official guide, hopes though its colorful campaign to inspire hope for travel and send out a message of love and welcome giving potential travelers a taste of the Greek capital.
“Athens new digital campaign – with the capital as a reference point – conveys a message of readiness and optimism”, said SETE President Yiannis Retsos, adding that the country’s tourism strategy was adapting to the new era and the modern trends utilizing all the tools at its disposal.
