UEFA Euro 2024: Philipp Lahm meets Burkhard Jung in Leipzig

The Mayor of Leipzig Burkhard Jung is looking forward that this trade fair city is becoming one of ten venues for the European Football Championship in 2024. This would be the first time that the competition is held in former East Germany with Leipzig as a host city.

That’s why ex-national player Philipp Lahm visited Leipzig, and together with representatives from DFB Euro GmbH and UEFA, the former Bayern player sightseen the Leipzig trade fair and the Red Bull Arena.

“The DFB was founded in Leipzig in 1900. Leipzig is a pioneer of German unity and is now represented in international football with a top club, RB Leipzig,” Jung said proudly. “The trade fair city is very closely associated with football.”

At the same time, the mayor was also there to advertise Leipzig as the location of the International Broadcast Center (headquarters for all radio and television broadcasts of the Euro 2024). According to Jung, the conditions for setting up the international media center in the exhibition hall are perfect.
