Hamburg to bolster development based on OECD guidelines
Hamburg has adopted Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) recommendations for development.
Under the leadership of Mayor of Hamburg Peter Tschentscher, the city noted that the six recommendations in question focus on securing skilled workers, renewable energy, tourism and marketing.
The recommendations are intended to make Hamburg more attractive as a place to work and live, and strengthen innovation and competitiveness.
Councillor for economics and innovation Andreas Rieckhof noted that Hamburg will expand cooperation with other cities and regions to maximise synergistic effects of planned measures and become more competitive on the international level.
Hamburg and other local government units are to invest roughly EUR 1.5 million in the next two years in a supra-regional innovation agency that will focus on sustainability, environmentally friendly technologies, digitalisation and AI, among other.
In 2024, Hamburg is to launch an office for securing skilled workers to help the city recruit and retain skilled workers from Germany and abroad, which will help to support growth and development.
The city will prepare an international marketing strategy to promote Hamburg internationally, especially to investors and professionals.
In addition, the region will focus on development of tourism and leisure activities, which will help Hamburg to attract workers and improve quality of life.
