Bratislava will transform Petržalka into a modern and green area
Bratislava has signed a memorandum of understanding with investors for development of Petržalka borough.
City authorities headed by Mayor of Bratislava Matúš Vallo pointed out that that development plans include construction of residential and commercial buildings as well as new public spaces.
Besides more housing and office space, the area will offer opportunities for recreation, sports and leisure.
Bratislava noted that the area on the right bank of the Danube between the Old Bridge and the Harbour Bridge has excellent potential for development.
City authorities and investors agree that the area can be developed in line with the spatial plan, noting that development of several projects started last year.
While the spatial plan from 2007 allows development of the area, Bratislava will update it to facilitate implementation of modern projects.
The new spatial plan will be discussed in public, with city authorities pointing out that investors would provide Bratislava with approximately 100 apartments to help it expand affordable housing programmes.
Floodplain forests in the area will be preserved and made more accessible to the residents. City authorities noted that investors support the move and concluded that making the natural area around the Danube more accessible is in public interest.
