Bratislava has opened the Eco Centre in Kamzík to host courses and seminars on environmental protection for schools and the general public.

Mayor of Bratislava Matúš Vallo pointed out that the project is part of broader efforts to develop the Bratislava Forest Park with environmental protection in mind.

He expressed hope that the Eco Centre will help children and youth to learn about nature in a playful way in a welcoming environment.

City authorities reminded that the area was closed to the public for years and noted that its reopening will provide a new opportunity for residents to spend time in nature.

The Eco Centre will host courses and discussions on forest care, beekeeping, biodiversity and more. It will host courses for schools on weekdays and will be open to the public on weekends.

Deputy Mayor Jakub Mrva pointed out that the arboretum in the forest park boasts exotic species planted at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, including firs, cypresses and larches, among other.

He concluded that city authorities will continue to develop the area to the benefit of the residents.

Bratislava pointed out that the Eco Centre is energy-efficient and blends into the surrounding environment, adding that new infrastructure will improve mobility and make the area more accessible.
