Magical Christmas in Palanga
This year, the Kurhaus concert hall will shine like never before in a Christmas mood and festive atmosphere in Palanga.
At the beginning of December, an impressive Christmas tree lighting show awaits the guests of Palanga. After the Christmas tree lights up next to the newly restored wooden part of the Kurhaus, there will be numerous activities in the town all month long.
Mayor of Palanga Sarunas Vaitkus stated via social media: “It was so good to interact with people from Palanga at the event, it was such a good feeling when you feel people’s sincerity and endless support.”
Throughout the festive month, the Kurhaus will host several concerts, movies, and educational activities for people to enjoy with friends and family. There will be no lack of entertainment in nearby town Šventoji either. A Christmas tree will be lit in the central square of Šventoji. A music program for the whole family awaits the guests, at the end of which a spectacular fireworks display will shine. The visitors will have the opportunity to see an impressive show of lights, animation and music.
Christmas concerts and performances at the Kurhaus began with the Advent concert. On December 5th, International Volunteer Day, the volunteers of Palanga were thanked for their contribution to the creation of a communal Palanga. Their contribution makes our city better for everyone to live in. For the first time, all Palanga volunteers gathered for an event dedicated to them, shared their experiences, and were evaluated and awarded.
On December 18th everyone of all ages is invited to a concert “Fairy Christmas” full of fun, magical stories and music. This is the last event of this year’s concert series “Music Evenings in the Kurhaus” and it is meant for the whole family to enjoy.
On New Year’s Eve, an impressive performance by Donato Montvyd and the String Quartet awaits you at the Kurhaus Concert Hall. The concert will combine a unique synthesis of popular and classical music. In the new theater hall, the play “News of Mars” by the Grubioio Theater will be shown four times in December (on December 11th, 12th, 18th and 19th). The play directed by V. Milinis narrates the current issues and the attempt of a rational person to survive in an irrational world.
During the Christmas educational sessions, ethnographer Zita Baniulaitytė will teach the modern family different ways to look at Christmas, combining the holidays with fun games and customs of the Palanga region. There will also be an Advent wreath, where people will be able to decorate cookies, and prepare Christmas presents for their loved ones.
At the Kurhaus Theater Hall there will be a cinema showing Christmas movies on Tuesday evenings. This is the first event of its kind, so a lot of attention is paid to the repertoire. Festive films about Santa Claus, a hero who experiences various Christmas trials and finally realizes that the slightest troubles of life are nothing compared to the great joy of being together.
