“Love meals” for the most vulnerable citizens of Athens during Easter weekend

The Municipality of Athens continues to help all those who are most vulnerable in the community. During the Easter weekend, the City had provided to the citizens in need “Love meals”, packages of food along with Easter eggs.

Mayor of Athens Kostas Bakoyannis said.“Crises are what makes us give more value to what we have always taken for granted. For Athens, solidarity, support for those who need us and, above all, their dignity remain a daily requirement. Not only in this current difficult period but also everyday, throughout the city, we remain faithful. Let no one ever be left alone”.

For several days now, 18,000 families have been receiving food packages and other goods from workers of the Municipality of Athens, on behalf of the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD). At the same time, the Athens Municipality Reception and Solidarity Center has set the Easter table for 2,000 homeless and deprived citizens, so that no one is left without a festive meal during the Easter weekend.

Also, 3,600 members of the Friendship Clubs, which unfortunately have been closed for months due to the Covid-19 pandemic, have received Easter packages at home. Photo Greek City Times
