Hazel Chu announced the Lord Mayor’s Youth Awards 2021

Lord Mayor of Dublin Hazel Chu has announced the establishment of The Lord Mayor’s Youth Awards 2021. The awards will celebrate children between the ages of 5 and 18 who have portrayed resilience and leadership during Covid-19.It is a way of acknowledging and congratulating the extraordinary work and resilience shown by Duublin’s young citizens.

“COVID-19 has affected so many people in Dublin, impacting children’s physical and mental health as well as the wider community. However, despite all the challenges faced by the global pandemic and subsequent lockdowns and restrictions, children and teenagers across Dublin have been resilient and have continued to do great work in their communities – from fundraising activities, to helping siblings and family members, to acts of kindness for neighbours or friends”, said the Lord Mayor of Dublin Hazel Chu.

Members of the public are invited to nominate a young person they think is deserving of an award through the nomination portal on the Dublin City Council website.

The winners will be chosen by the Lord Mayor based on how those nominated have shown resilience and have had a positive impact in their home lives, school or community and the winners will be announced at the Lord Mayor Youth Award webinars on Thursday, April 29th 2021.
